U-6 Rules Of The Game

Size 3 ball (one team will provide one soccer ball for game)

2-16 minute halves with a 5-minute half-time break.

4v4 players on the field with no goalie

there is 2 fields for this age division and the teams are assigned to play or practice on the north/south field.

Have Fun and try and make sure all the kids get a chance to score.  Really encourage the kids to play as a team and have them attempt to pass the ball.  Do not allow kids to use their hands.

If the ball goes out of bounds on the side, have the player throw the ball in over their heads with both hands.  They must keep their foot behind the line.  They have to throw the ball to someone they cannot drop the ball and kick it again.

Make sure to have the kids back away from the person who is doing the throw-in.  Try to get them at least 5-6 yards away.  They cannot “guard” the person kicking or throwing the ball in.

Keep the game moving-the clock never stops.  When subbing a player in to the game, just call one player off and put another player in.  They will catch on after a few games.

HAVE FUN!!! That is the main thing to keep in mind at this age.  DO NOT KEEP SCORE.  Some kids will want to know the score – let them know this is for fun.

Also, at the end of every game, ALL parents and by-standers should make a single tunnel for the kids to run thru.  They love this!  It also shows that it is not “them vs. us”

In case of rain, I will contact coaches, and let them know if the game will be played or not.

If anyone should have any questions about the games, practices or general issue, ask the coaches first.  If they don’t know the answer, they can contact me and I will find out.  If there is a scheduling conflict with something else at the school, let me know immediately and I will do my best to reschedule
